| | Betty Lewis 1957 -- 2008 By Pauline Grant - July 28, 2008Betty Lewis, a veteran workers' compensation claims examiner, who worked as a long and short term temporary examiner in Southern California during the past decade, died on Saturday, July 26th 2008, at her home in Fontana, California. She apparently died of natural causes. Her death was sudden and she had no known or diagnosed illness.
Betty was found on the floor of her dining room by her daughter on Sunday. The daughter went to Betty's house most likely because Betty wasn't answering her phone. Friend and colleague Steven Schmitt commented that Ms. Lewis had been losing a lot of weight in recent months and had been suffering from stomach ulcers. Other friends as well as Schmitt had been telling Betty that she was becoming excessively thin and should see a doctor.
Betty Lewis would have turned 51 years old in November.
During the mid-1990s, she worked at Golden Eagle Insurance Company. In late 1995 to about 1997 she worked at Pacific Rim Assurance. Then in 1997, Betty embarked on a career of working temporary assignments. She worked long term at Cambridge Integrated Services Group in Pasadena, California during the last days that Cambridge was handling the Los Angeles County account. Plus she did many assignments at various other places, as well, such as Risk Enterprise Management (REM), Kemper, Frank Gates Services, State Compensation Insurance Fund, Ralph's, County of Riverside, The Hartford, Travelers, Fireman's Fund, Sedgwick CMS, Royal Insurance Company, CNA, RSKCO and Firm Solutions.
