California Division of Workers' Compensation Accepting Applications for Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME) Examination on April 5-11

The Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) has posted an order adjusting the Pathology and Clinical Laboratory section of the Official Medical Fee Schedule (OMFS) to conform to relevant 2024 changes in the Medicare payment system as required by Labor Code section 5307.1.

The order adopts the Medicare calendar year 2024 Quarter Two update to the Pathology and Clinical Laboratory Fee Schedule. In addition, the order adopts an end date of March 31, 2024, for prices previously adopted for two COVID-19 related testing codes (CPT 86409 and CPT 86413). There is no longer a need to price these two codes within the order because the codes were changed from locally priced codes to national codes and are included in the Medicare Clinical Laboratory Fee Schedule 2024 Quarter Two file effective for services rendered on or after April 1, 2024.

The Administrative Director update order adopting the OMFS adjustment is effective for services rendered on or after April 1, 2024. The order can be found on the website of the Division of Workers’ Compensation on the Pathology and Clinical Laboratory webpage.
