About One Dozen Protest Governor's Workers Comp Plan By The Associated Press - April 12, 2004
(Los Angeles-AP) -- About one dozen workers converged outside Governor Schwarzenneger's office in downtown Los Angeles today to protest his new worker's compensation proposal.
Some carried signs reading, "Cap insurance rates, not insured workers care,'' "I don't trust a company doctor,'' and "Don't deal away my choice of doctor.''
At the protest was David Schwartz, president-elect of the California Applicant's Attorneys Association, a group of lawyers who represent workers injured on the job.
He called the plan "an assault on the state constitution and the protection workers have had for almost 100 years.''
