Claimant Caught With His Crutches Down By Robert Warne - June 24, 2003
The City of Glendale wants $13,310 back for an exaggerated work comp claim and the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office is going to help make it happen.
Simi Valley resident, Robert Galante was recently stuffed into a squad car and taken down to the station as a result of a claim he filed for an ankle injury in 2001.
Because of his injury, Galante who was a power line truck operator for the city of Glendale alleged he couldn’t drive more than a 10-mile radius, and required an air cast and crutches.
Turning down a modified work arrangement, he opted for disability benefits. But while under video surveillance, Galante was recorded using only one crutch during trips to his doctor. His actions were also found to be inconsistent with what he had been telling his doctor.
Galante is facing two felony counts of workers’ compensation fraud.
