| | ISO Getting Connected By Michelle Logsdon - February 19, 2002Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO) is working on an interface connection between two of its information systems, ISO ClaimSearch® and ISO Claims Outcome Advisor (COA).
Donna Crapps, COA development manager, told adjustercom.com that connecting the two systems would make it easier for claims adjusters and other insurance professionals to do their jobs. “It will save time, improve accuracy and help in investigation of claims.”
ISO ClaimSearch® is a property/casualty database that stores information on individual insurance claims for participating insurers and other investigative or law enforcement agencies. The purpose of the system is to prevent fraud by uncovering claims patterns and claimants with multiple addresses, telephone numbers, vehicles or claims. According to the ISO ClaimSearch® website, the database holds information on more than 242 million claims.
Once the connection is complete, insurance professionals can enter a claim number and information will be available through ISO ClaimSearch® and COA. The Claims Outcome Advisor is a management tool providing claims assessment information for bodily injury and workers’ compensation. The system includes thousands of medical conditions and occupations, as well as a return-to-work (RTW) plan for each individual.
Currently ISO is testing the interface for bodily injury claims. Crapps said it should be up and running around April. Then ISO will start working on the workers’ compensation side of the system. |
