Last month, I attended a party with a four-piece musical group performing outside on a private patio.  They were playing dance hits and soft rock.  The guests created a dance floor that was never empty while the group was performing.  

I noticed they had a flute player.  He was a mature man who blended well with the singer, guitarist, and the percussionist.

During a break, I spoke to the flute player.  Turns out he’s an attorney named Adam Englund from the Encinitas area.  He’s had a full career as a lawyer and now in his maturity writes mostly Wills and Contracts.  

Another musician I’ve never seen personally but have heard mentioned a lot over the years is Patrick Murphy.  He’s a founder of the workers’ compensation defense firm of Harrison Eichenberg and Murphy.  

I contacted a Patrick Murphy who’s a subscriber to my adjustercom.net publication.   He replied that he’s not the Patrick Murphy who’s the “famous one” and is not a musician, but he is, indeed, named Patrick Murphy.  

There’s even another Patrick Murphy who’s a 23 year old pianist.  He showed up from searching on Google.

“Pat runs an independent record label and music publishing company, manages a recording studio, works as a sound engineer for music venues, and plays guitar in a classic rock band.”  hem-law.com

Christine Harris, who was an accomplished, senior workers’ compensation claims examiner as well as an accomplished pianist, worked at Broadspire and AIMS in the Sacramento area for many years.  At one time, she had a weekend job from Friday through Sunday playing the piano at the Vineyard House, which was a renowned haunted house in Coloma, California.  Coloma is in the northeast area of Sacramento in El Dorado county.

Thus, Christine worked two jobs.  When the Vineyard House closed and was turned into a B&B, Christine said she cried all the way home.  Being a pianist was a big part of her lifeblood.
 
She died at the age of 59 in September 2021 after many years of fighting cancer.

Tomorrow night, at 8:00 pm, October 12th, Katrina Woolverton is singing at the Mint in Los Angeles.  Katrina is both a singer and a songwriter with a spectacular voice that is now flawlessly at the height of its perfection.

Katrina even after becoming an accomplished singer went to law school and became a lawyer specializing in criminal cases and then soon became a workers’ compensation defense attorney at the law firm of Tobin & Lucks.

She met George Woolverton at the retirement party of Judge Quinones.  And as time moved on she married George Woolverton, who is today the President of Stockwell Harris Woolverton & Fox, also affectionately known as “the Stockwell firm”.

Back in the day, when Katrina was a wee-babe of 12 years of age, she competed on Ed McMahon’s “Star Search” show.  This was in 1990.  And on the last night of competition in round one, she won that round competing against the 10-year-old Aaliyah, who would become famous a decade later, and who tragically died in 2001 in a plane crash in the Bahamas.  

Aaliyah Haughton performed R&B, hip hop, and pop music.  She influenced all three genres and only lived to be 22 years of age.

Today, Katrina Woolverton has put her singing career to the forefront and writes and performs her own songs.  This year, 2023, she released her latest song Grind.  

A few of her past songs include Closer, Shame On Me, and Lonely Heart, which is a tune which really reveals the beauty of her voice.  A favorite of mine, another one of her compositions, is called Taken or In the Blink of an Eye.  In this song one can just imagine the scenario.  Someone is checking her out, won’t stop staring at her, but is with somebody else.

She performs Taken here at an upscale lounge in London.

Watching Katrina Woolverton perform is a truly great way to enjoy a Thursday night.  In L.A., Thursday night is always Friday night.
