Steven Harris, Co-President Of The Stockwell Firm, Dies After Complications From Surgery. He Would Have Turned 80 Years Old On August 14th. By Lonce Lamonte - July 16, 2020
Steven Harris, the co-president of the Stockwell firm, a California statewide workers’ compensation defense law firm, has died. He died last week after post op complications from an aortic aneurysm repair at Cedars Sinai medical center in Los Angeles.
Steve lived in Beverly Hills, California. He went to Beverly Hills High School and spent most of his life living in Beverly Hills. His unexpected death is a great loss which has caused tremendous sorrow to his friends, family, and colleagues.
“I expected him to come back to work in a couple of weeks,” said George Woolverton, who worked as co-president with Steve.
Steve was born in 1940, so he would have completed 80 years on August 14th 2020.
“He was such a gentleman and is already greatly missed,” wrote Katrina Woolverton, singer, lawyer, and wife of now Stockwell president George Woolverton.
Stockwell Harris Woolverton & Helphrey originated in the 1950s with Stockwell as a founding member. Steve Harris joined the firm in 1970 after being admitted to the California State Bar in 1966, graduating with a BA from UCLA in 1962, and earning his LLB in 1965. He was a member of the Council on Litigation Management, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the State Bar of California, and the American Bar Association.
“He was always beautifully dressed with a tie and a pocket square,” Katrina Woolverton added. “… he also absolutely loved dogs.”
His hobbies were dogs, gardening, and work. And he liked to travel.
“His real passion was work,” said George Woolverton. “I like vacations. He hated every second,” meaning every second that he, George, was away from work and on vacation.
“I would describe Steve as one of the most honorable, generous, and intelligent individuals I ever worked with,” George further expressed, and then stated, “He was an immaculate dresser. He believed that you should dress to the nines.”
Many of his colleagues referred to him as a work-dad. He was a father figure.
Steve Harris is survived by Marilyn Trattner, his companion for over a decade. He was also widowed previously by his wife Joyce and from that marriage has step-offspring he considered his own. Thus, he is survived by Barry, Debra, and Stephanie.
Steven Harris’ memorial was held on Monday, July 13th 2020 at Hillside Memorial Cemetery. His family and friends have requested that any donations in his honor be made to the COVID-19 Relief Effort because of what’s going on in the world at this time. Steve’s death was not related to COVID-19.
