| | California Division of Workers’ Compensation Posts Adjustments to Official Medical Fee Schedule for Physician Services/Non-Physician Practitioner Services to Implement Second Medicare Correction to the Annual Update By Lonce Lamonte and the DWC Newsline - February 11, 2020
In December 2019, the Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) posted an order adjusting the Physician Services/Non-Physician Practitioner Services section of the Official Medical Fee Schedule (OMFS) to conform to relevant 2020 changes in the Medicare payment system as required by Labor Code section 5307.1.
On January 22, 2020, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) adopted retroactive corrections to the Geographic Practice Cost Index (GPCI) data. These corrections were adopted by DWC by Order dated January 27, 2020.
On January 31, 2020, CMS adopted a second retroactive correction to the annual Medicare Physician Fee Schedule update, effective January 1, 2020. The second correction makes changes to the Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS) cap that is used in determining fees under the Physician Fee Schedule. DWC has posted an Order adopting the Medicare corrections to the OPPS cap.
The Administrative Director update order adopting the adjustments effective January 1, 2020, can be found at the DWC website’s OMFS page.
