| | Fremont’s Claims Head South By Robert Warne - October 4, 2002With the dust settling in San Francisco, things have gotten intense for claims professionals handling the Fremont Compensation run-off in Glendale, now that there has been an infusion of approximately 600 files.
Inside sources report that Fremont’s Glendale office will be transformed into a Cambridge Integrated Services office for the time being. It has also been reported that Cambridge officials are currently weighing the possibility of moving the Glendale operation to their Pasadena office or vice versa.
The arrangements between Employers Insurance Company of Nevada (EICN), Cambridge and Fremont General are quite complex.
But in the midst of the transition, reportedly there’s now approximately 40 claims examiners working for Cambridge in Glendale, many who came fresh from Fremont.
And Fremont Employers Insurance Co., which has an office in the same building on the 17th floor scooped up 10 of Fremont’s examiners.
According to the Fremont EICN Transition Agreement , EICN reserved the right to use its sole discretion in determining to which employees it would extend an offer of employment. And regarding the employees not acquired by EICN, Fremont reserved the right to terminate any remaining employees.
Luckily, in the greater Glendale region, Cambridge was on the scene, and fewer people were left out in the cold.
Yes some employees have jumped ship, but on the whole, what layoffs there have been have paled in comparison to the San Francisco shutdown. |
