California DWC Issues Notice of 15-Day Comment Period for Proposed Modifications to the Official Medical Fee Schedule’s Hospital Outpatient Departments and Ambulatory Surgical Centers Section By News Release, California Department of Industrial Relations - September 8, 2016
The Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) has issued a first notice for a 15-day comment period on proposed modifications to the Hospital Outpatient Departments and Ambulatory Surgical Centers (HOPD/ASC) of the Official Medical Fee Schedule (OMFS) regulation. Members of the public are invited to present written comments regarding the proposed modifications to dwcrules@dir.ca.gov until 5 p.m. on September 23, 2016.
The proposed modifications include:
Clarification that the intent of subsection 9789.32(d) is to direct the reader to other fee schedules of the OMFS for services that are not payable under the OMFS HOPD/ASC fee schedule.
Adding “Other Services” to section 9789.32(a) for dates of service on or after the effective date of the proposed regulations.
Clarifying that only columns A (“HCPCS Code”) of CMS’ ASC prospective payment system addenda AA and EE are being adopted and incorporated by reference for the purpose of identifying the surgical service HCPCS codes (with the exception of “inpatient only” procedures).
Adding CPT codes 21811, 21812, and 21813 to the expanded definition of surgical procedure HCPCS codes for services rendered on or after the effective date of this amendment.
Modifying certain sections of the proposed regulatory text to avoid any suggestion of retroactive application of the proposed regulatory text.
Adding status indicator code “J2” to subsections 9789.33(a)(3) and (4).
