Judy Parrish had been an Assistant Vice President of Claims at Zenith Insurance Company in Woodland Hills, California. She worked for Senior Vice President Bill Saake during the days of the late 1980s and early 1990s. During the 90s Judy then went to work for UCLA (University of California at Los Angeles) and ran the workers’ compensation program there as their workers’ comp manager until recently. The UCLA claims were handled by Third Party Administrator: Applied Risk Management, Professional Risk Management and now today by Sedgwick, who purchased the former TPA.
Nancy Melton, a claims manager today at Zenith Insurance Company in Woodland Hills, described Judith Parrish as “smart, strong, brave”. She wrote to this writer, “(We) always chatted when we met. Saw her almost every year at the DWC Conference. What happened?”
Perry Hoffman, a former Zenith claims adjuster who is today a claims adjuster at ESIS in Chatsworth, California, wrote, “The thing that stands out was her laugh and practical approach to claims handling.”
John Riggs, the manager of workers’ compensation of the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, wrote, “Judy was an inspiration, well respected and a mentor to many of us in the industry.”
The cause of Judith’s death is not known by this writer. Many inquiries written and phone messages left were not responded to or returned, as of today’s date. One individual stated that she had seen Judy recently and noted she had lost weight, and then noticed Judy did not attend the last DWC conference.
Phone numbers found on the Internet to Judy’s residence and to possible relatives were disconnected. Email addresses bounced.
More information about Judith Parrish is welcomed from readers. An interview from former Senior Vice President of the Zenith, Bill Saake, who worked extensively with Judy during her Zenith days, is requested. Photographs of Judy Parrish are also welcomed.
