Trial Of Kelly Soo Park For The Murder Of Juliana Redding Starts Tomorrow Morning
By Lonce LaMon - May 12, 2013

It’s Mother’s Day today and I can imagine in my mind’s eye Juliana Redding’s mother, Patricia, fraught with worry when her daughter wouldn’t answer the phone or respond to her messages back on March 15th 2008.  The hours ticked by with no response and no answer.  I suspect it just wasn’t like Juliana not to return her mother’s calls promptly and not answer her phone.  That must have been way out of the ordinary; they must have kept in close contact.

The Redding family is from Arizona where Juliana was raised before she decided to come to Los Angeles to pursue a career as a model and an actress.  She was 21-years-old when she was murdered and had already landed a part in a music video and also in a low budget film.   She worked at a Tapas restaurant in Santa Monica where she also rented an apartment.   Her father, Greg, was a pharmacist.

As the story has been told to me, one day Dr. Munir Uwaydah stopped into this Tapas restaurant in Santa Monica while out with his west coast Marina Del Rey wife, Julia Kaeuffler.   I call her the west coast Marina Del Rey wife because Dr. Uwaydah also had another wife at the time living with his mother in Lebanon.  That wife, Kadri Valjaoots, an Estonian, had gotten legally married to Uwaydah on January 1st 2000 in Las Vegas.  However, while Uwaydah was in Los Angeles, Julia Kaeuffler, a young German woman, acted in every capacity as his functioning wife.

Thus, while Julia went to the ladies’ room at the Tapas restaurant—probably with her and Uwaydah’s twin children-- Dr. Uwaydah talked to Juliana Redding.  He most likely even managed to get her phone number.  Or else he came back for it.  But it seems about right that Julia would take a good while with two young kids to take care of in a restaurant restroom.  And that gave Uwaydah sufficient time to make his move on the unsuspecting beauty, Juliana Redding.

Uwaydah began dating Juliana in spite of having two wives already and at least one mistress who had just had a son with him in Corona, California in the Summer of 2007.   So, all of these women were part of Uwaydah’s harem, which included Kelly Soo Park, as well, who during this time had also been one of Uwaydah’s lovers.  There most likely were more women lovers.  One source stated that Uwaydah used to frequent strip clubs dressed in his surgical scrubs.

Dr. Uwaydah played the role of a Turkish sultan, who keeps a set of wives, concubines, mistresses, girlfriends, and casual one-night play things.  But the difference was that traditional sultans had harems where all the women well knew each other, whereas with Uwaydah none of the women knew each other, or at least he worked over time trying to keep them from knowing each other.  Enormous energy was put into keeping his women from crossing paths and finding out the others existed.

Patricia Redding, in a panic, called the Santa Monica Police Department and asked them to go to Juliana’s apartment and do a welfare check.  The authorities found the front door locked but noticed the smell of gas.  It took a special team to break in because of the strong gas smell.   Juliana was found dead on her bed and the gas stove knobs had all been turned on while a candle had been left lit on the coffee table.

It was clear the perpetrator had had the intention of blowing up the apartment.  The plot had failed; most likely because the doorways and windows weren’t sealed tightly enough.

Juliana Redding

Just days before Juliana’s body was found, her father, Greg Redding, a pharmacist, had declined to do a deal with Dr. Uwaydah.   He seemingly felt Uwaydah’s activities were fraudulent.  Uwaydah wanted to make compound medications for workers’ compensation patients.  There was no cap for compound medications on the workers’ compensation fee schedule at the time.  Therefore, he could charge whatever he wanted and exploit this loophole.  He exploited patients in myriad other ways, as well, overbilled insurance carriers, and even sold receivables that had already been collected on.  Greg Redding had his attorney respond to Uwaydah.  He wanted nothing to do with this work.

It seems Greg Redding did some more checking of facts about Dr. Uwaydah.  Coincidentally, Greg Redding had a close friend who is Estonian.  This Estonian friend communicated with a media professional in Estonia, a publisher who told the friend Uwaydah was married to an Estonian woman named Kadri Valjaoots.   But Uwaydah had presented himself to Juliana Redding as single.   Greg Redding saw a pattern of misrepresentation.   He didn’t trust that Uwaydah was telling him the truth about more than just a couple of things.

The timing of Greg Redding’s refusal to make compound medications for Uwaydah and Juliana Redding’s murder is significant.  It fits the pattern of Mafia thugs murdering and threatening loved ones of people they simply want to control.  Organized Crime has infiltrated heavily into the world of insurance claims.  Today, Organized Crime has embraced insurance fraud.   It has been estimated by one investigator at a large insurance carrier that Dr. Uwaydah and his network of fraudsters have likely defrauded the workers’ compensation system in California out of between 200 to 400 million dollars.

More than two years after the March 15th 2008 murder, Kelly Soo Park was arrested in late June of 2010.  Her DNA was found at the crime scene—on the victim’s body and on the stove knobs.   She was linked to Uwaydah, as she was his right hand in his workers’ compensation fraud games.  It took investigators over two years to link it all up.  Kelly Soo Park did not know Juliana Redding.   But Juliana Redding knew Dr. Uwaydah.    Once Kelly Soo Park was arrested, Munir Uwaydah fled to Lebanon.   He is on the lam in Lebanon to this very day.

Prosecutors believe Kelly Soo Park strangled Juliana Redding with her bare hands.  It is indicated by the victim’s cell phone that she tried to call 911 just before she was killed.  Her murderer snatched the cell phone out of her hands.

It’s a freaky thing about the gas on the stove being turned on and a candle being lit at Juliana’s Santa Monica apartment when her body was discovered.   Years ago, back in the late 1980s, Dr. Uwaydah came into possession of a large cache of gold bullion with a partner with the first name of Kamel.   This writer does not know how it came about that Uwaydah took possession of this large quantity of gold bullion, simply that he did come into possession of it for whatever reason together in partnership.  It was worth millions of dollars at the time.

It was reported by a news reporter somewhere not too many years later that Kamel and his wife were killed in a hand grenade accident.  But late in 2010 and early 2011, when this writer and publisher began heavily publishing articles and stories about Dr. Uwaydah, a medical doctor from Lebanon called an adjustercom freelance writer and stated that the story about Kamel being killed in a hand grenade accident was inaccurate.   It was not a hand grenade that killed Kamel and his wife, according to this anonymous Lebanese doctor (who blocked his Caller ID when calling).   It was a gas explosion.

A gas explosion.

Uwaydah was accused by the same mistress who had his son in 2007 of attempting to poison her just days after the birth of their son.  It is believed by the former mistress that Uwaydah wanted to get rid of her in order to take possession of their son and whisk him off to Lebanon where he could be raised with a dozen or more of Uwaydah’s both legitimate and illegitimate children by his mother Farihan Renno.

A model who worked in a “Gentlemen’s Club” in the Santa Monica area had an assailant attempt to stab her as she was walking to her car one evening.  This happened just shortly after the model criticized Uwaydah by warning the mistress who accused Uwaydah later of attempted poisoning not to date Uwaydah as he was dangerous, in her opinion, and not to be trusted.

Dr. Uwaydah told his west coast wife, Julia Kaeuffler, that if she didn’t stop communicating with his other mistress he was going to “put her to sleep”.

Uwaydah physically attacks or threatens others whom he cannot control.  He obsessively hates to be criticized.  He’s a narcissist who possesses the salient quality of all malignant narcissists: an obsession for control.  He also possesses the narcissistic love of money and power as a replacement for love.   And he usually gets somebody else to do his dirty work by paying the person enough money to do it.

The Kelly Soo Park trial starts tomorrow morning in Downtown Los Angeles.  Will she be convicted of the murder of Juliana Redding?

We’ll certainly see.   Stay tuned.
