Workers' Comp Fraud Conference & Awards Ceremony Monday, January 11th 2010

The State of California Department of Industrial Relations, the Employers' Fraud Task Force, the Commission on Health and Safety and Workers' Compensation, and the Disneyland Resort are jointly sponsoring a special Workers' Comp Fraud Conference & Awards Ceremony on this Monday, January 11th 2010. 

The conference is being held at the Disneyland Hotel in the Magic Kingdom Ball Room, 1150 W. Magic Way, Anaheim, CA 92802.  Registration starts at 7:30 am and the opening welcome will come from John Riggs, Workers' Compensation Claims Manager of the Disneyland Resort.

Laura Clifford, Executive Director of the Employers' Fraud Task Force will then speak, and she will be followed by Deputy District Attorney Al Mackenzie of the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office with his topic: "The Powerful Impact of the Fraud Interdiction Program and how you can help."

John Duncan, a Director from the State of California, Department of Industrial Relations, will report on his matching records program; Christine Baker from the Commission on Health & Safety & Workers' Compensation will speak on "Research & Measurement of Fraud"; and Frank Newhauser of UC Berkeley will address "The Underground Economy and its Impact on your bottom line." 

Carrie Nevans of the DWC will give a Technology Update; in the afternoon Linda Wikler of Emdeon will deliver "How Technology has advanced fraud fighting efforts and why the crooks hate it." 

Last in the afternoon the notable Bill Zachry, Vice President of Risk Management from Safeway, will address "Fraud Assessment Commission and the Cost to Employers of Fighting Fraud in California."

The keynote speaker during the lunch hour will be Tim East of the Walt Disney Company.

The Awards Presentations and Drawings will happen at the close of the program.
