| | GAB-Robins Lays Off Five Claims People By Lonce LaMon - July 15, 2009Late last week ending July 10, 2009, GAB-Robins laid off five workers' compensation claims employees in their Burbank and Ontario, California, offices, combined.
In Burbank, Steve Appell, a Lien Specialist, was laid off along with two claims assistants: Hannah Cooper and Albert Ruiz.
In Ontario, claims assistant Liz Alvarado became part of this latest lay-off along with claims supervisor Cheryl McCrary.
GAB-Robins has merely followed the pattern of lay offs in claims industry-wide, starting with Berkshire Hathaway in Pasadena, then Broadspire in Chatsworth, then Cambridge Integrated Services Group (now Xchanging) in San Diego and Pasadena, then York Insurance Services Group in Rancho Cordova and LWP Solutions in Glendale all during this past six month period.
There is no movement yet of perceived growth in the claims industry in California, at this time, only hiring in areas where claims have moved due to consolidations and closings of other offices within a company. |
