Lawyer Who Commits Insurance Fraud Must Be Summarily Disbarred By Press Release - July 24, 2008
Lawyers who commit insurance fraud violate the oath they took when they were admitted to the bar. It is difficult to convict a lawyer of insurance fraud because insurance companies are not likable victims.
Insurance fraud and bad faith expert and lawyer Barry Zalma, has battled insurance fraud for more than 40-years. "If a lawyer is convicted of insurance fraud, there is absolute proof of an act of moral turpitude." Zalma said. "The state bar should have only one choice: to immediately remove that lawyer from membership in the bar and the right to appear in any court."
Zalma editorializes in the July 15, 2008 issue of "Zalma's Insurance Fraud Letter" that the California Bar should be commended for summarily disbarring a lawyer convicted of insurance fraud and recommends that all states follow California's lead. "The United States cannot abide lawyers who commit insurance fraud," Zalma said.
