Columbia, South Carolina Attorney Samuel Painter Withdraws Name From Consideration For Workers' Compensation Board By Pauline Grant - April 11, 2008
Attorney Samuel Painter has withdrawn his name from consideration for a term on the South Carolina Workers' Compensation Commission.
Painter faced repeated questions earlier this week about his involvement with South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford's efforts to have awards for injured workers determined by new guidelines.
Painter withdrew from consideration Thursday as the Senate Judiciary Committee planned to question him again.
An executive order from Sanford last summer caused problems after some saw it as requiring commissioners to decide payments in workers' compensation cases using standards the Legislature had rejected.
That issue is now before the So. Carolina state Supreme Court.
