Sometimes, You Gotta Go to the Sports Pages
By John Millrany - March 23, 2001

Leave it to the sports pages to offer up a little levity on any given day, even as the rest of the news might feel as jaunty as foot-and-mouth disease.

Here’s a bright and breezy item from Bob Hille out of Sporting News pertaining to the volatile, erstwhile University of Indiana basketball coach Bobby Knight, who, it was reported in March 22 sports pages, may become the next head coach at Texas Tech in Lubbock.

Knight, long known for his many hot-blooded outbursts both on and off the court, finally caught comeuppance last Sept. 10 when he was fired for breaking a stay-cool promise to IU. That followed allegations that he choked former cager Neil Reed while Knight was under a "zero-tolerance" order from university officials.

Knight, said Hille, is considering suing IU for inflicting emotional distress…"Then he will file a workers’ comp claim that Neil Reed’s throat caused his (Knight’s) carpal tunnel syndrome."
