| | Aspen Medical Resources Raided By Orange County District Attorney. Accused Of Egregious Overbilling And Kick-Backs. By Lonce LaMon - August 19, 2012
An inside industry investigator and “deep throat” informant has reported to adjustercom that Aspen Medical Resources on 685 No. Shepard Avenue in Anaheim, California, was raided by the Orange County District Attorney’s office last Wednesday, August 15th.
A search warrant was served upon the Durable Medical Equipment company, which stands accused by the insurance claims industry of double billing, using the wrong codes in what’s referred to as “upcoding”, and egregiously inflating the costs of medical equipment items.
On the Aspen Medical Resources web site, it reads: “Aspen Medical Resources is founded on the precepts of delivering quality products at reasonable prices in a caring and supportive fashion. “
It is reported that Aspen Medical Resources engages in “kick-back” schemes with medical practices and has been investigated for giving cash to medical office managers.
Some of the equipment Aspen provides includes bone stimulator devices, electrotherapy devices, and home therapy kits for hand, wrist, ankle, knee, elbow and spine. They describe themselves further on their web site as “working with the physicians to immediately deliver exactly the products prescribed through our network of highly trained technicians.”
A phone call to the Orange County District Attorney’s office on Thursday did not reach any available spokesperson; and in spite of messages left, no spokesperson called back on Thursday or on Friday with any information or comment about the search warrant served upon Aspen Medical Resources.
