Janice Thorner became Janice Thorner Levy. She was always nice and warm-hearted. She is remembered by this writer as friendly and delightful to be around.

Now she works as a Senior Claims Specialist at Zurich American in the San Fernando Valley. She handles very complex workers’ compensation claims; and manages several high-profile accounts.

She has created training programs in workers’ compensation claims. She has worked in management. For decades Janice has had a side business that is today going strong. It’s called Creative Memories. Janice teaches scrapbook classes and holds scrap book Retreats six times a year in January, March, May, July, September, and November. They are fun events for three days where one can get one’s albums completed while having fun. She teaches private and group scrapbook classes and workshops as well. She will make albums for people upon special request.

Other specialties are creative and unique party favors, table center pieces, invitations, and more; photo organization needs, scrapbook consulting services, customer services training, team building training programs, procedure manuals, new employee orientation programs, and scrapbook events. Janice and her business partner create party favors for every occasion and customize invitations and announcements.

Janice in claims has created L&D programs that provide outstanding quality training in the workers’ compensation claims field as well as Customer Service, Leadership Development Presentation skills, New Employee Orientation Programs and Policy and Procedure manuals. The quality training services are based on the needs of one’s company. A needs assessment is performed to help identify training goals.

For twelve years Janice was the Branch Claims Manager at Zenith Insurance Company. That was in the late 80s and early 90s: 1984 to 1996 in Woodland Hills. She managed 30 technical professionals and 20 support staff. She had responsibility for hiring and technical development training.

Janice prepared the yearly budgets, conducted personnel appraisals, and did the salary administration. She reviewed the files exceeding $50,000 in value, directly supervised the staff nurses, coordinated staff meetings and training with the legal department.

She met with agents and employers, provided customer training, and reviewed account status reports.
