| | Laid Off Is Not Forever: Three So Cal Claims Professionals Land Well By Lonce LaMon - August 21, 2009Rita Thomassian is now a senior workers' compensation claims examiner at Zurich North American in Woodland Hills, California. Rita had been an examiner with Berkshire Hathaway in Pasadena for four years, up until Berkshire Hathaway laid her off in conjunction with approximately sixty total claims people out of Pasadena, just this past Spring.
Rita started in claims as a claims assistant at the California Insurance Guarantee Association in 1979, and then in 1982 she joined Royal Sun Alliance as a claims assistant and worked her way up to a senior claims examiner all the way until 2005. Then, with the changes which took place with Royal Sun, Rita then joined Berkshire Hathaway until the lay-off just earlier this year. Now, she is in the work comp claims department of Zurich in Woodland Hills.
Veronica Cancel is now a claims assistant in workers' compensation claims at Mitsui Sumitomo Marine Insurance Company in Universal City, California. Veronica had been a claims assistant at Chubb Insurance Company in Downtown Los Angeles for about 5 years until she was laid off at the end of January 2009. Now, she is happily back at work with Mitsui.
William Nelms is now a work comp examiner with Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) in Downtown Los Angeles. Bill landed the position earlier this year, where he says he is incredibly happy. Throughout the entire 1990s, Bill was an examiner with Alexsis Risk Management, both in San Francisco and West Covina, California. For about a year, during the year 2000, he worked for Cambridge, and then for two years he worked for Keenan & Associates. Bill resides in Long Beach. |
