Two Veterans Embrace Retirement By Lonce LaMon - May 26, 2009Ray Garcia, who has been a Lien Specialist and Hearing Representative with Zenith Insurance Company in Woodland Hills, California, for the past several years, retired from Workers' Compensation Claims for good on March 31, 2009.
When discussing his retirement over the phone from his home in Sepulveda, California, he expressed that he was having a great time studying the history of the San Fernando Valley by searching out historical articles over the Internet and was not seriously considering doing any consulting or part-time work yet.
"I want to get this door sanded finally, if I can get around to it," he quipped while musing over the odd jobs he has for years left to the way-side.
Ray worked long term just prior and during the 1980s for Mission Insurance Company in Los Angeles as a Workers' Compensation Claims Supervisor. The Mission Insurance Companies were ordered into liquidation back in 1987. From then he eventually made his way to The Zenith and the Hearing Rep Unit until his recent decision to retire.
Last year, Mark Jordan, who was a Claims Manager at Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies in Pasadena, California, well before Berkshire's recent lay-offs on March 31, 2009, decided to move on from Workers' Comp Claims and work for Public Radio.
Mark, who graduated from Harvard University, worked for Great States Insurance and Cambridge Integrated Services Group during his career before joining Berkshire Hathaway in 2005. Mark resides in Pasadena, California. |
