Claims Community Mourns The Loss Of Miguel Barahona
By Lonce LaMon - April 27, 2009

Miguel Barahona was most recently a workers' compensation claims examiner at Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies in Pasadena, California.  His untimely and tragic death at the age of twenty-eight years happened on March 29th 2009 when the vehicle his friend was driving in which he was a passenger collided at a high rate of speed with a wooden power pole and erupted into flames. The accident occurred in Anaheim, California.

Miguel's Rosary will be held on Tuesday, April 28th, 2009, at 7 PM at Rose Hills Memorial Chapel in Whittier, California at 3888 Workman Mill Road.  His funeral will be held the next day, Wednesday, at 1 PM at the same location.  Mourners are instructed to enter through Gate 1 for both services.

Miguel started in Workers' Compensation claims as a file clerk and data entry person at the Law Offices of Robert Winterbotham in August of 1998.  He worked there until July of 2000 up until he joined the military and served in Iraq. His platoon led the invasion in Iraq.

After the military, Miguel returned to Workers' Comp claims by joining Buckeye Administrators where he worked as a Claims Assistant. After Buckeye, he worked as a temporary employee for a short period of time at Interlink. He was then hired at Berkshire Hathaway as a Trainee Claims Adjuster in October of 2005. He underwent 6 weeks of classroom training and then was put on a claims desk under the supervision of Anita Garzon.

Miguel had his SIP certification.
