Workers' Compensation Insurance Fraud Conspiracy By Associated Press - August 5, 2004
CARLSBAD, Calif. (AP) _ A Carlsbad doctor is wanted on felony charges in a multistate auto and workers' compensation insurance fraud operation, officials said.
Reginald Martin "Marty'' DePaoli, 41, faces charges of conspiracy to commit illegal referrals, committing illegal referrals, conspiracy to commit grand theft, conspiracy to prepare false claims and preparing false claims.
Authorities arrested three other people Tuesday on felony charges in a three-year investigation into the office of Baldini and DePaoli Chiropractic in Rocklin.
The investigation was prompted by reports from insurance companies and private citizens and found over billing, double billing and kickbacks for referrals, according to Department of Insurance Deputy Press Secretary Jason Kimbrough.
DePaoli and others defrauded the insurance companies of hundreds or thousands of patients, Kimbrough said.
An attorney for DePaoli has contacted a Sacramento-area district attorney, Kimbrough said.
