| | Temp Worker Accused of Perjury in WC Case By John Millrany - June 4, 2001A 37-year-old woman accused of perjury was arrested May 31 by California Department of Insurance (CDI) investigators on a workers' compensation beef.
Martha Rodriquez, also known as Graciela Castro, was booked into Riverside County Jail on a $5,000 felony warrant. The Riverside District Attorney's Office, Workers' Compensation Fraud Unit is prosecuting the case.
The CDI Investigation revealed that in December 1998, Rodriquez alleged an injury to her lower back and left leg while working as a temporary employee for a temporary staffing firm. Rodriquez made misrepresentations to her doctors by failing to disclose a prior WC claim for a prior injury to her lower back, officials said.
According to investigators, Rodriquez committed perjury in her deposition by denying any previous injury to her lower back. She also denied any previous treatment for injury to her lower back, and denied having any employment since her injury in December 1998. |
