Ford Motor Company wants to examine a deceased man’s lungs so it can once and for all let his claim rest in peace.
But Rita Adams, the wife of the late Donald Adams is hoping that an Ohio court will protect her husband who has resided in a grave since 1998.
Adams filed a work comp claim on behalf of her husband in 2000 after he allegedly died from respiratory failure that resulted from pulmonary fibrosis and other suspected lung cancer and lung disease complications.
While working as a tool and die maker for 32 years at Ford, Adams was routinely exposed to asbestos.
Because of his exposure and the nature of the cause of his death, the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation awarded Adam’s widow $14,000 a year, according to the Associated Press.
Ford just wants to take a look at Adam’s lungs to verify that he did have asbestosis, but doctors in his wife’s defense believe that after six years in the grave all they’re likely to find is a skeleton of a claim.
