| | Govenor Appoints 2 WCAB Commissioners By John Millrany - May 23, 2001James C. Cuneo and Janice M. Jamison have been appointed to the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board by Gov. Gray Davis.
A senior partner in the Sacramento law firm of Cuneo, Black, Ward and Missler, Cuneo is a member of the California Compensation Assn. and the American Bar Assn.
He earned his BA degree at Notre Dame and law degree from Golden Gate University Law School.
Murray was a staffer with the Federal Communications Commission from 1996-2000 and is a member of the Federal Communications Bar Assn. and the National Bar Assn. She holds a BA degree from the University of Virginia, MA from Howard University and JD from George Washington University Law School.
The WCAB is a seven-member, quasi-judicial body appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Senate and is charged with exercising all judicial powers vested in it by the Labor Code. Its major functions include review of petitions for reconsideration of decisions by WC referees of the Division of Workers' Compensation and regulation of the adjudication process by adopting rules of practice and procedure.
The appointments of Cuneo and Murray bring the current board to five, with two vacancies. |
