California Division of Workers' Compensation Posts Adjustments to Official Medical Fee Schedule for Pathology and Clinical Laboratory

The jury is now in deliberation in the trial of applicants’ attorney, Jon Woods.  They are now to resume their deliberations on Monday, August 1^st 2022 at 9:30 am. They began at almost mid-day on Thursday, July 28^th. 

This is the second trial for Woods.  The first one ended in a mistrial on April 17^th 2019.   His case was supposed to be retried within a year, but the pandemic and the recurring variations of Covid-19 delayed the new trial by more than three years.

The charges against Woods for mostly the taking of incentives began five years ago.  He was charged separately along with other applicants’ attorneys such as Robin Jacobs, Rony Barselom, John Jenson, Robert Slater, Dennis Fusi and a handful of others.  Jon Woods pushed his preliminary hearing and trial ahead as the first one in the pack because, as he said, “I did nothing wrong.”

With Woods’ mistrial back in April of 2019, Robert Slater got ahead of Woods with his trial. Slater was found guilty by a jury at the end of his trial earlier this year.

Many of the attorneys have tried to delay their trials to see what would happen with Woods.  But the mistrial upset their delay tactic.  Thus, Robert Slater had his trial and the jury found him guilty.
