Statement of California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara on the Confirmation of U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra By Lonce Lamonte and the California Department of Insurance - March 18, 2021
Insurance Commissioner Lara released the following statement after the U.S. Senate voted to confirm California Attorney General Xavier Becerra as Health and Human Services Secretary:
“Secretary Becerra will expand Americans’ access to health care, drawing on his experience in California protecting important laws to increase the number of people with health care to a record high prior to the COVID pandemic. As someone who grew up without the security of regular doctor visits or reliable health care, I know first-hand the challenges still blocking our way. I will continue to stand with President Biden and Secretary Becerra in defending the Affordable Care Act and promoting innovative ways for working families and immigrant communities to have access to affordable and equitable coverage. I offer my congratulations on his confirmation and my ongoing commitment to our shared goals.”
