Colorado Worker Shows Head Injury Happened as a Consequence of a Knock on the Head at Work

Alan Jay Wax, California applicants' attorney, dies at age 60 after battle with cancer. Memorial service set for February 29th in Santa Clarita.
By Jorge Alexandria - February 25, 2020

Alan Jay Wax, workers’ compensation applicants’ attorney, died on Tuesday, February 18, 2020.  He lost a one-year battle with cancer.  He was 60 years old.

He died peacefully, surrounded by his family, at his home in Valencia, California.

Alan was a great workers’ compensation attorney who never thought of himself that way. He thought of himself as a man with a job to do in which he used his legal talents to champion the rights of the working man-woman.  He labored diligently to restore injured workers to health and secure equitable compensation for them.

He was a very popular applicants’ attorney.  Born in Los Angeles, California on June 9, 1959, he began his legal career on December 11, 1986 after passing the Bar exam.

Alan got his B.A. degree from UCLA and his law degree from Glendale University of Law. He went into practice with his father, helping to build what would become the law firm of Wax & Wax in Glendale.

He achieved the high distinction of becoming a certified specialist in the field of workers’ compensation law. He touched and changed (for the better) many injured workers’ lives. At times he was known to be passionate. In one famous exchange he once told me, “Your job is to help injured workers and don’t be f*!*^!* lazy!”

He met his wife, Debbie Reynoso, on December 3, 1990, and married the very next year on September 1, 1991. The birth of their two daughters, in 1992 and 1994, respectively, highlighted Alan and Debbie’s marriage.

Alan is survived by his father, Harold; wife, Debbie; children, Beverly and Deirdre; son-in-law Joshua; siblings, Jon, Pamela and Maureen. He is preceded in death by his mother, Beverly.

Alan Wax was an avid golfer as well as a dedicated member of his church. He was fond of his outdoor Jacuzzi, weekend barbeques, and family outings.

A funeral service will be held on February 29, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church, at 22833 Copper Hill Drive, Santa Clarita, California 91350.
