Former Cambridge Employees Reunite at Restaurant in Pasadena
By Eddie Avilez - June 17, 2018

“If you build it, (they) will come” seems to best fit the energy and turnout at the event held on Friday June 1st 2018 at the El Torito restaurant located on Foothill Blvd in Pasadena, California.  What started out as an impromptu suggestion turned out to be a well-established and heartfelt reunion for the ages.  It was also dubbed as a Bierly & Associates, Hertz Claims Management, Presidium, Inc., and a Cambridge Integrated Services Group reunion because some of the former employees were originally workers from the previous companies prior to the Cambridge formation.

The suggestion was made by Martha Ramirez on her Facebook page, a hyperbolic comment which turned into a grass roots word of mouth wild fire, spreading throughout the tall grass of the social media platform.  When asked how she ended up being the official organizer she replied, “Don’t know; it kind of just happened!”  Both Martha Ramirez (Senior Adjuster from Adminsure) and Regina Diaz (Tristar in Santa Ana) hosted the event which pulled in at least 65 former employees within the first hour of the event.  More attendees began to show up after a bout with Friday night traffic.  Some came from as far as Victorville for the event.

For most attendees, it has been about 19 years since they first started with Cambridge.  Cambridge Integrated Services Group was established back in 1999.  Scandent Group acquired the assets of Cambridge Integrated Services Group (an AON company) on November 30, 2004. The Scandent Group was an international corporation headquartered in Singapore.  But for those who shared time at Bierly, Hertz or Presidium, the years can go beyond the golden 25 year mark.  Some have retired or semi-retired and others have moved on to other companies.

Two of the attendees previously mentioned are Martha Ramirez, who currently works at Adminsure, now in Ontario, and Regina Diaz, who currently works at Tristar in Santa Ana.  Kim Michels, former Workers’ Comp Manager on the LAPD account at Cambridge back in 1999, now works at York Risk Services Group in Rancho Cucamonga as a Work Comp Manager.  Harold Anderson, former Senior VP at Cambridge in 1999, is now a VP of Account Management at IW Care Connection.

Mother and daughter duo, Sarina Acosta and Lana Giordano, former Cambridge employees, were also present enjoying the event.  Sarina is now with York.  Lana works at LACMTA (Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transit Authority).

Denise DeMello also attended.  She worked at Bierly & Associates and is now the Western Regional Manager at MTI America.

Name tags with smiley faces filled the entire common bar area just to the right of the dining room.  Glasses were cheered and toasts were made at each table mimicking buccaneers coming to shore after a long voyage.  Hugs could be seen and laughter heard throughout the hall of long lost companions.  The souls of the “claimed” finally reconnected with one and other.  Time stood still and memories were shared as the once gone but not forgotten picked up where they left off, rejuvenating their relationships.

The phrase, “We all need to do a Presidium/Cambridge Reunion…” will go down as a true reunion of friendships.  From the declared lips of Martha, those simple words were spoken into existence and it became so.  Perhaps she can proclaim the same with Bitcoin.  All and all, the event was a success.  Thank you, Martha and Regina, for the idea and for spreading the word.
