| | Richard Scheinberg, M.D., Santa Barbara Based Orthopedic Surgeon, Under Investigation By Santa Barbara District Attorney By Lonce LaMon - June 30, 2017
Richard Scheinberg, M.D., an orthopedic surgeon, who has offices in Santa Barbara, Oxnard, Santa Maria, and Bakersfield, California, is under investigation by the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s office. On his website www.rdscheinberg.com, it states he is a board certified orthopedic surgeon with 30 years of practice experience.
Wm. Todd Berry, applicants’ attorney, with Berry, Smith & Bartell in Bakersfield, California, wrote via email to this writer yesterday, close to the noon hour, stating one of his clients attempted to get to her appointment that morning at Scheinberg’s office in Bakersfield but was unable to enter the facility due to it being closed by law enforcement officers.
Todd Berry wrote, “I have been informed there are lots of DEA agents there. No one is answering phones at his offices.”
KEYT News based in Santa Barbara sent a crew to Scheinberg’s office yesterday at 401 Chapala Street, Suite 102, in Santa Barbara. Their reporting stated that both plain-clothed and uniformed police were going in and out of Scheinberg’s office all day long. The cops were pushing carts with many boxes on them which contained manila folders with envelopes inside.
On the door a posted sign directed patients to reschedule their appointments the following day.
Dr. Scheinberg is currently on staff at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, the Pueblo Surgery Center, and Carrillo Surgery Center.
Today Todd Berry wrote, “I think he’s a good doctor. We’ve never had any issues with him.”
Joyce Dudley, the Santa Barbara County District Attorney, confirmed to KEYT that Dr. Scheinberg is under investigation by her agency but she would not give the reason. Also, according to KEYT, anyone with information about Dr. Scheinberg’s practice is asked to call John Savrnoch with the Santa Barbara DA’s office at 805 568-2300.
