Wm. Todd Berry, an applicants’ attorney in Bakersfield, has recently founded Berry, Smith & Bartell, a Professional Law Corporation, in the Central California Valley, encompassing Fresno, Bakersfield, and Santa Maria. Todd opened the Law Office of Wm. Todd Berry in Bakersfield in 2007, and then opened an office in Fresno in 2010. Santa Maria came along as a satellite office in 2014. Now in 2016, he has embraced two partners to become Berry, Smith & Bartell.
Jaime Smith joined Todd’s firm in 2011 in Bakersfield. Timothy Bartell joined in 2015 in Fresno. Now they both have become the second and third partners to Todd as the founding partner of Berry, Smith & Bartell.
Wm. Todd Berry has been licensed to practice law in California since 1994. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas Tech University and received his Juris Doctorate from California Pacific School of Law. He’s married with two children.
He began his legal career working for the Law Office of Gary M. Fachin in Bakersfield representing plaintiffs and defendants in general civil litigation matters, including products liability. He later worked for Rodriguez & Associates, one of the premier personal injury firms in the Southern San Joaquin Valley of California.
Todd worked for Yohman, Parker, Kern, Nard & Wenzel, a Fresno based workers’ compensation defense firm starting in 2004. It was through Daniel Yohman, a highly respected defense attorney in the Fresno area, that he learned the basics of workers’ compensation law.
Todd has represented injured workers before the WCAB since 2007 when he opened the Law Office of Wm. Todd Berry.
Jaime Smith was admitted to the California Bar in 2010. She graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Geography from Sonoma State University and received her Juris Doctorate with the highest honors from Golden Gate University School of Law. She likes to bowl and read.
Timothy Bartell has worked as a defense attorney defending workers’ compensation claims at the Fresno offices of Floyd, Skeren & Kelly and Laughlin, Falbo, Levy & Moresi. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from the University of Santa Cruz and received his Juris Doctorate with distinction from San Joaquin College of Law in Clovis, California.Tim likes to golf and travel.
This newly formed partnership also values three of-counsel members who are an integral part of the Berry, Smith & Bartell team.
Barbara Stevens is a veteran who has been practicing in workers’ compensation law since 1976. In 1994, she was appointed as a workers’ compensation judge at the Sacramento Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board, and then in 1995 she transferred to the Bakersfield Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board where she stayed until 2004. She joined the Law Office of Wm. Todd Berry in 2009.
Barbara obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in French from Cal State Northridge and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Laverne College of Law.
James Dubbels has experience in all aspects of workers’ compensation law. He was a managing partner with Adelson, Testan, Brundo & Jimenez in Fresno for 12 years before becoming Senior Staff Counsel at Travelers Insurance Company. He joined the Law Office of Wm. Todd Berry in 2012.
Jim received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa and worked as a pharmacist in Iowa and California for twenty years. He then attended San Joaquin College of Law and received his Juris Doctorate with distinction and was a member of the Law Review.
Gaylen Ericksen is experienced in all aspects of civil litigation and workers’ compensation. He has defended and prosecuted products liability, premises liability, asbestos claims, and auto claims in the Southern California area. He defended workers’ compensation claims for 13 years as Staff Counsel for State Compensation Insurance Fund in Bakersfield.
Gaylen graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in General Science and received his Juris Doctorate from West Los Angeles College of Law. He joined the Law Office of Wm. Todd Berry in 2015.
