California DWC Announces Public Meeting on September 8 to Discuss Evidence-Based Drug Formulary—Note New Date and Location
By News Release - California Department of Industrial Relations - August 19, 2015

California DIR's Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) has rescheduled its public meeting to discuss issues related to developing an evidence-based drug formulary for use in the workers' compensation system. The meeting, previously scheduled for September 14, will now be held:

Date:     Tuesday, September 8, 2015

Time:     10 a.m. to noon

Place:     Elihu Harris State Office Building – Room 2, Second Floor

               1515 Clay Street

               Oakland, CA 94612

This meeting is an opportunity for the public to provide input to the Division on developing and implementing a formulary. DWC will facilitate discussion on how to best achieve the intended goals of an evidence-based drug formulary in the workers’ compensation system, which include the following:

  • Improve appropriate care through the dispensing of evidenced-based medicine
  • Expedite pharmaceutical treatment for ill and injured workers
  • Reduce delays, including the reducing the need for elevated utilization review and independent medical review
  • Improve efficient delivery of medical benefits and reduce administrative costs.
