Destie Overpeck Appointed Administrative Director of California Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC)
By Lonce LaMon - April 20, 2015

Destie Overpeck has now been appointed Administrative Director of the Department of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) under the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) of the state of California.  She was appointed by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr.

Christine Baker, Director of the Department of Industrial Relations said, “It is with great pleasure that we announce the choice of Destie Overpeck as Administrative Director, and we congratulate her on this well-deserved appointment.”

Destie Overpeck has been acting Administrative Director since 2012, since the resignation of former Administrative Director Rosa Moran in September of 2012.  Prior to Rosa Moran, Carrie Nevans was the acting Administrative Director until February 2011 when she died after a long illness.

Overpeck has been overseeing DWC’s diverse programs and managing a staff of more than 1,000 with a budget of $197 million. She has overseen the division’s implementation of Senate Bill 863, the landmark workers’ compensation reform that took effect at the beginning of 2013.

Prior to taking the reins as Administrative Director, Overpeck was DWC chief counsel since 2005 and served as industrial relations counsel III from 2000 to 2005. She was an attorney and partner at Cullom, Burland, Bacon and Overpeck from 1986 to 2000 and an associate at LaFollette, Johnson, Schroeder and DeHaas from 1984 to 1986.

Overpeck earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Hastings College of Law.
