| | Landmark Medical Case Of 200 Mil Workers' Comp Fraud Trailed To May 1st 2015 In Orange County

The Landmark Medical case of 200 million dollars in alleged workers’ compensation fraud is now still pending and has been stayed by the California Supreme Court. As a consequence, no amended indictments have been filed by the prosecution in Orange County Superior Court.
The reason they weren’t filed is the defense asked for an extension. They wanted the extension in order to file a Writ asking for a review of Judge Thomas Goethals' denials of their demurrers.
In late February 2015, the Writ sent to the Court of Appeal, Fourth Appellate District, was summararily denied. Thus, the defense filed a stipulation with the court asking the prosecution to put the deadline for the amended indictments over to March 23rd so they could file with the California Supreme Court. Thus the Supreme Court stayed the case pending their further order.
During court proceedings on January 16th 2015, The Honorable Thomas Goethals ordered the prosecution to file 2nd amended complaints, denying the demurrers from the defense. Kareem Ahmed, the CEO of Landmark Medical, is the lead defendant on the first indictment, and Evette Charbonnet, Landmark Medical’s marketing manager, is the lead on the second indictment.
There are fifteen defendants total in this case combined, referred to as the Landmark Medical case, with two separate indictments. Benjamin Gluck, the defense attorney for Kareem Ahmed, alleged errors during the January 16th hearing in every count in the indictment against his client.
There are 15 defendants in this workers' compensation fraud case against Landmark Medical by the Orange County District Attorney. Landmark Medical is accused of inappropriately ordering the manufacturing and prescribing of compound medications to workers’ compensation patients in southern California. Kareem Ahmed is alleged to have paid out 25 million dollars in bribes to physicians to prescribe his compounds. Manslaughter is alleged over an infant death which resulted from the infant ingesting the compound medication from the mother’s skin.
The original indictments were filed on June 17th 2014.
The next hearing is set for 9:00 am in court room C-45 on May 1st 2015 at 700 W. Civic Center Drive, Santa Ana, California.
