| | Workers' Compensation Claims Veteran, Michael McFadden, Promoted To Executive Vice President At Patriot National In Woodland Hills, California By Lonce LaMon - December 12, 2014
Michael McFadden, of Patriot National Insurance Group, has been promoted to Executive Vice President from Regional Vice President in Patriot National’s Warner Center, Woodland Hills, California office. This West Coast headquarters is located at 21255 Burbank Boulevard, Woodland Hills, 91367; the home office of Patriot National is in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Michael is not at liberty to provide additional details or information about his promotion at this time.
Just a little over three years ago, in October of 2011, Michael McFadden joined Patriot National as Vice President of Operations after a 25-year career with Zenith Insurance Company in Woodland Hills. He joined Patriot National as an executive overseeing the entire insurance operation, with the workers’ compensation claims departments reporting directly to him, but also with all operational responsibility for the work flow

between underwriting and marketing, loss control, and auditing under his executive management. “Everything you would think of that would be involved in running an insurance company,” he explained in late September of 2012.
Michael was asked to choose the Southern California location when he was hired. There was no Southern California office at that time. There was only a Northern California claims-only office in Rancho Cordova. So, he decided, as he stated back in late September of 2012, to choose, “Warner Center because of its access to a lot of the key agents and brokers and to the claims professionals and the insurance professionals that live in and around the area. I learned from working at Zenith that it’s not hard to attract talent in this particular area.”
Patriot National is a monoline workers’ compensation insurance carrier. Michael’s background is extensively in workers’ compensation claims; he started in the file room at Lumberman’s Mutual in the San Fernando Valley in 1985, moved over to Zenith in 1986 still in a clerical position, and moved up though all the claims positions of assistant, adjuster, supervisor, manager, to Vice President of Claims for the Los Angeles region before the time he left The Zenith in 2011.
He gained experience in leading multi-discipline work teams at The Zenith during his many years there, and he also ran the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) department for a time. He worked with loss control and the legal department. As Michael explained in 2012, he also “heavily participated with the marketing and underwriting team in bringing in business to Zenith, so all of that background that I participated in helped prepare me for a role with all these different disciplines.”

Michael McFadden started at Lumberman’s Mutual right out of high school, so he went to college at night after several years at The Zenith. He earned his degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix in the year 2000. After he left Zenith in 2011 and joined Patriot National in 2011 as Vice President of Operations, he was promoted in January of 2013 to Regional Vice President. Now his promotion to Executive Vice President makes his second promotion in just a little over three years with the company.
Michael lives in La Crescenta and has been married to his wife, Renee, for nearly twenty-five years. They have two daughters, Ashley, who is 21, and Amy who is 17.
He loves to support his daughters’ sports activities and loves to participate in sports himself. “I really like to participate in any kind of competitive sport.”
He has said he’ll play “anything from golf to tennis” and that golf is “pretty much part of the territory. I take agents and brokers out and they like to play golf.”
