The immediate plan for the new law office is to make the contacts and develop relationships. Megan expresses she’d like to “grow this firm in the Oakland office to seven or eight attorneys; and then, hopefully, if we’re successful in this area, to expand and open other offices in the northern California area. Maybe in San Jose. Sacramento. That’s the long term plan.”
But for the moment Megan just wants to stay focused on Oakland and to grow the Oakland office. “And be the best office that we can be.”
Megan Sullivan knows the state of California well, from north to south. She was born and raised in Orange County, went to law school at Southwestern School of Law in Los Angeles, worked some years in the Michael Sullivan & Associates Los Angeles office while living in the area, and then got to know the Bay Area while getting to know her husband, who is from the Bay Area and went to school in San Francisco.

Megan also has an older sister who lives in San Jose and is a professor, so she has spent time in her life living with her sister and being a part of that community. Michael Sullivan is the oldest of the six offspring in a family where Megan Sullivan is the youngest of those siblings. Thus, this is an educated family of extensive readers who live in and love California.
Megan also reads, writes, and speaks the Spanish language, and therefore is a member of the pervasively bilingual culture of California. She did a study-abroad program in Spain during her undergraduate days which gave her a strong foundation.
Now she is excited about her job as the managing attorney of the Michael Sullivan & Associates Oakland office. “It’s been in the plans for a long time,” Megan says. “It’s been a couple of years that we’ve been planning to try and come up to the northern California area. So, I right now feel like I’m fulfilling something that we’ve been working towards for a really long time. And I look forward to keeping it moving.”
