Colorado Worker Shows Head Injury Happened as a Consequence of a Knock on the Head at Work

Katrina, Five Years Ago A Defense Lawyer At Tobin Lucks, Sells Out Her Singing Performance At The Mint In Los Angeles
By Lonce LaMon - August 28, 2013

Just a short five years ago, she was a workers’ compensation defense attorney at Tobin & Lucks in the Los Angeles area.  She is Katrina Abrahemian Woolverton, but really just Katrina to her audience.  And she can sing as powerfully as a Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Barbra Streisand, or even like a Susan Boyle who just blew away Britain’s Got Talent a few years ago and is now world-known.

Katrina sold out The Mint on Pico Boulevard near Crescent Heights in Los Angeles just this past Saturday night, August 24th 2013.   It was standing room only for much of the audience that crowded towards the stage along with other audience members who sat at reserved tables and along the bar.

This classic Los Angeles crowd came wearing everything from sexy evening attire to jeans and t-shirts.  Attorney and Co-President of Stockwell Harris Woolverton & Muehl, George Woolverton, who is also the husband of Katrina, was wearing a Katrina promotional t-shirt with casual light brown pants and white shoes.  His partner, attorney Steve Harris, was also there, a little more formally dressed than George but blending in well with the California casual crowd.

Katrina performed third and last on the schedule of performers after a young rock singer and guitarist named Jessarae and an acoustical guitar player and songwriter named Frank Stallone—who just happens to be the brother of actor Sylvester Stallone.   Katrina was also the MC of the entire stage performance.

Her wire-thin figure bedazzled the stage beneath her vintage Katrina billowing ringlets of dark brown hair reaching nearly to her elbows.  She wore sculpted black pants under a golden brown shimmering shawl-style top trimmed with dramatic fringe.  Her performance began with slow ballads and love songs.  She drew the audience in.

Then the power and intensity of her music crescendoed as she continued to perform.  She moved along to Pop songs, R & B, and Dance Disco--most of which she has written herself.  As an accomplished songwriter, her repertoire consisted of mostly her own original songs.   A few of them were:  “Taken”, “So Eden”, and “Shame On Me”.  Recently, Katrina wrote a new dance song with a partner called “Ready For Love”.   She belted out that song too, most flawlessly.

Katrina’s voice never waivers.  Natalie Cole wrote in her autobiography that the voice is a muscle.  So, being a singer is like being an athlete.   Singers are the jocks of the human voice.

Imagine an athlete like this new Dodger baseball player sensation, Yasiel Puig.  Imagine if on his day off Don Mattingly, the Dodger manager, were to send any one of us out to play right field and to get up to bat in Puig’s place.  It would be a joke.  None of us would be able to do it.  Certainly not at Dodger stadium but for sure we could do it for fun at our neighborhood baseball diamond.

Equally we all can have fun on Karaoke night.  But none of us can sing like Katrina or bat and play right field like Yasiel Puig.  There’s no way…

One song Katrina took on that is not her own writing is “Girl On Fire” by Alicia Keys.  The audience went into a mild frenzy by the intoxicating energy of this exhilarating R&B-HipHop song which cries out:  This girl is on fire…  This girl is on fire… Oh, she got both feet on the ground.   And she's burning it down.  Oh, she got her head in the clouds.   And she's not backing down…

The build-up to this crescendo of “Girl On Fire” was so dramatic that the audience seemed to take off like a rocket.  Everybody was flying!

Another attorney who was in the audience was Katrina’s mother, Mary.  She was mistaken by this writer not to be Katrina’s mother at all because she simply doesn’t look old enough.  She wore a multi-colored, casual, sleeveless top and mingled seemingly effortlessly with the crowd.  She revealed that Katrina began to sing when she was nine years old.

I confessed to someone recently that I never go to Las Vegas as it’s too hot, I don’t gamble, and I snobbishly consider it to be a cultural wasteland.   However I said I’d go if I had an opportunity to see a performance by Celine Dion.

Now after Saturday, I know I’d definitely go to Las Vegas if there were a performance there by Katrina and I could get into it.   I’d set aside my cultural snobbery and my hatred for hot weather both in one whack just for the chance to see a Las Vegas show by Katrina.

With her talent, there’s no way it aint gonna happen.
