| | Combined Claims Conference Day 1 in the Books By Robert Warne - March 20, 2002The 14th annual Combined Claims Conference kicked off with a bang yesterday and adjustercom.com was there to participate in the educational festivities.
The unrivaled solid line-up of presentations on the first day of the conference addressed many of the hot claims topics of the day.
The first session was conducted by two attorneys from the firm, Ropers, Majeski, Kohn & Bentley. Stephen Erigero and Stephen Hayes addressed those in attendance on “Earthquakes: Exposure, Investigation, Evaluation, Subrogation and Litigation.” They focused on the impact of the SB 1899 legislation that extended the deadline for filing Northridge earthquake damage claims for one year.
Ken Oswald, Paul Bigley and Jeff Crafts
The second session dealt with uninsured and under-insured coverages. Ken Oswald of Equity Claim Management, Inc. jumped right in to his part of the presentation with a pop quiz complete with prizes. Managing partner Jeff Crafts of Gilbert, Kelley, Crowley & Jennett, spoke about avoiding bad faith claims. From the same firm Paul Bigley offered some helpful advice to adjusters, which he termed the “buried treasure” of the insurance code.
The final session was about working smarter and improving customer relations. President and CEO of International Insurance Institute, Inc., Carl Van led a candid and animated educational exchange with audience members.
More will follow about the conference and various sessions and attendees. Stay tuned for day two of the event.
