| | Fontana Chiropractor Fraud Crackdown By Robert Warne - April 14, 2003A Fontana chiropractor has been sentenced on grand theft charges after his limber approach to billing insurers backfired.
Between 2000 and 2001 Robert Strohback poured on some heavy financial gravy by over billing for services and charging for services never performed.
According to the Los Angeles Times, investigators found that Strohback illegally claimed $40,000 from 16 victims. His hit list included the Fontana Unified School District, Southern California Risk Management and GAB Robbins.
Stroback pled no contest to the charges April 8, before a San Bernardino County judge. In June he will be sentenced to five years probation, 200 hours of community service and ordered to pay a $10,000 fine.
He was also ordered to immediately repay those who he defrauded.
Stroback’s actions have thrown his future earning potential as a chiropractor all out of alignment. He will not only have to submit to monthly audits and spot inspections, but The California Board of Chiropractic Examiners is also looking into taking disciplinary action which could include revoking his license.
To top it all off, his office manger, Gloria Escoto is accused of being in cahoots with him and will face grand theft charges as well.
