The claim’s over for an adjuster who has put in her share of time in some of the finest claims departments in Orange County.

Rather than locking in her future with SAFECO Insurance Co., for her efforts Sheila Nicholson has been locked up instead.

The 29-year-old Nicholson was arrested March 20 on work comp fraud charges. While employed as an adjuster at SAFECO she filed a claim of her own. During the course of her claim she utilized her adjusting expertise to land jobs at GAB Robbins and Sierra Insurance Group.

The Orange County District Attorney’s Office plans to charge Nicholson with four counts of grand theft, nine counts of insurance fraud and one count of conspiracy.

Her actions not only ruined her future in any claims department but it may also throw a wrench in her wedding plans.

Nicholson’s fiancé, Cory Weaver was also arrested and officials reported that the two had conspired to embezzle over $94,000 from GAB Robins. Nicholson's total fraudulent activity exceeds $116, 000.

This all goes to show just what kind of a day one can have when it is started off on a bad claim.
