“Seeing the Forest Through the Trees: MSA/LMSA Trends” at the August 19-23 Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference at the Orlando World Center Marriott will offer guidance in that area.
By Press Release - July 9, 2012

Orlando, FL, July 07, 2012 --(PR.com)-- To protect companies and employees it is critical that insurers, attorneys and claims professionals understand how Medicare set-asides can affect workers’ compensation and liability cases. The presentation “Seeing the Forest Through the Trees: MSA/LMSA Trends” at the August 19-23 Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference at the Orlando World Center Marriott will offer guidance in that area.

Panel members include Rafael Gonzalez, director of Medicare compliance at Gould & Lamb in Bradenton; Celia Mendez, mediator and attorney with Moreland & Mendez in Maitland; Cynthia Sage, corporate counsel for FCCI Insurance Group in Sarasota; and Lisa Kalo, attorney with Kalo & Verheul in Sarasota.

This panel will delve into current industry trends that tend not to be apparent on the surface. The speakers will address workers’ compensation and liability Medicare Set-Aside trends specifically regarding MSA submissions, MSA approvals, MSA pharmacy trends and MSA administration trends (self vs. professional), and offer insight into the future as CMS develops more user-friendly tools for the industry.

The session will be presented on Tuesday, August 21.

About WCEC & WCI:

Now in its 67th year, the Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference (WCEC) is the must-attend event for C-level executives, risk managers, claims adjusters, insurers, and medical and legal experts. Presented by the Workers’ Compensation Institute (WCI), the conference offers attendees an extraordinary opportunity to connect with their peers and learn from nationally recognized experts.

Ongoing registration for the 2012 gathering reflects the global perspective of the conference, with an expected 8,000 participants from over 35 states and a number of foreign countries. The conference itself has been expanded to four days to accommodate the several hundred speakers presenting discipline-specific programs, break-out sessions and CEU opportunities. Of particular interest are a National Trends’ program featuring three national medical directors; a Risk Managers’ break-out paneled by two insurance company presidents; and a two-day “Center for Excellence: The Study of Medical Cost Drivers in Workers’ Compensation,” sponsored by Liberty Mutual. Additionally, more than 300 exhibitors will present information on their products and services.

The 2012 Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference will be held August 19-23 at the Orlando World Center Marriott.

The WCI is a nonprofit, nonpartisan educational organization that serves as a comprehensive resource to all members of the workers’ compensation community. The WCI is an outgrowth of the long-established Florida Workers’ Compensation Institute. FWCI remains in existence under the WCI umbrella and continues its Florida focus, while the national organization provides a broader outreach across all states. The website is www.wci360.com.
