Workers' Compensation E-Billing Webcasts Will Drive Industrywide Engagement -- May 11th AMA Webinar for Vendors about California's Workers' Compensation eBilling Kicks Off Campaign Webcast Series for Physician Practices Starting May 17th
By Press Release - May 11, 2012

CONCORD, Calif., May 10, 2012 -- /PRNewswire/ -- A national electronic billing (eBill) engagement campaign is now underway to empower workers’ compensation Practice Management Vendors, Physician Practices, and Payers. Free webcasts in May are part of a vital educational campaign from the American Medical Association (AMA), the California Medical Association (CMA) and California Orthopedic Association (COA), with participation by the California Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) and Jopari Solutions, a principal supplier of integrated medical transaction electronic data interchange (EDI) services to the Property and Casualty Industry.

An AMA hosted webinar this Friday, May 11, "Taking advantage of the California Workers' Compensation eBilling mandate," will introduce vendors, clearinghouses, billing services and  workers’ compensation payers to the campaign and outline functionality issues related to eBilling. According to AMA member surveys, Physicians are looking to their existing vendors to furnish eBilling solutions and are seeking increased automation that offers "one system, one workflow" billing capability to handle all lines of coverage. This webinar will focus particularly on California, where mandatory Payer eBilling acceptance goes into effect on October 18th this year, in addition to related state eBilling standards and health information technology solutions that ensure compliance. Speakers include Don St. Jacques, Jopari Solutions Senior Vice President.

A State Workers’ Compensation eBilling Toolkit Template has been created by the AMA to be used by the other state medical associations to help support physicians and other health care professionals engage in workers’compensation eBilling. California is the beta state for this roll-out campaign. AMA also provides an eBilling Toolkit for stakeholders that can accessed at www.ama-assn.org/go/workerscomp.

The CMA-hosted California eBill Webinar Series beginning May 17th, with participation by AMA, COA, the California DWC and Jopari, marks the major push to engage California physician practices to take advantage of the state's workers’ compensation eBill rules going into effect October 18th. The California eBill Webinar Educational Series will be webcast on May 17, 24 and 31th; and will be repeated August 16, 23 and 30th, hosted by Jopari. The CMA has posted the webinar information on their website at: http://www.cmanet.org/events/detail/?event=california-workers-comp-ebill-part-1-are-you.

The California Division of Workers’ Compensation will participate in this physician practice engagement effort by furnishing a regulatory update, and will be on hand during the webinar series to answer any regulatory questions that may arise. Jopari has been working in a collaborative effort with all of these industry organizations, and will lead efforts to engage the payer and vendor communities in widely promoting this campaign. Jopari already has established an extensive nationwide network of connectivity with payers on behalf of many vendors, including assisting many with capabilities that support Workers’ Compensation.
