| | Willis Coroon Property & Casualty Division Under New Tutelage By Michelle Logsdon - April 30, 2002As of May 1 the adjusters in the Property and Casualty Division of Willis Administrative Services Corporation (WASC-PC) will be hitting the books and studying claims for a new headmaster. Willis Group Holdings sold WASC-PC to Alternative Service Concepts, L.L.C. (ASC) March 7.
Joe Plumeri, chairman and CEO of Willis, said, “As we at Willis focus increasingly on providing risk management services to the corporate sector, it is right that we reduce our presence in non-core businesses, such as WASC-PC.”
WASC-PC was a third party administrator for self-insured public entities, pools and large private employers. They serviced clients in the areas of workers’ compensation, general liability, auto and property coverage. The Division was created in the mid-1970s to handle the newly emerging alternative market for risk coverage.
George Cochran, co-founder of ASC, said, “This division, as a free-standing company, will be one of the leading independent providers of workers’ compensation third party administration services to self-insureds in the country and is well positioned for growth.”
WASC-PC had offices across the country with a grand total of 170 workers. Dan Prince, a spokesman for Willis Group Holdings, told adjustercom.com that the Division had offices in San Diego, San Jose, Stockton and Santa Ana. “Approximately 30 employees are in CA; 14 of them have the word ‘adjuster’ in their position titles.”
Prince said all of the employees of WASC-PC had been offered positions with ASC. |
