Beginning on March 1st 2011, just two weeks ago, ACM began to handle all Sparta work comp claims on policies written through Arrowhead General Insurance Agency (AGIA). ACM is wholly owned by AGIA.
Just last December 2010, ACM began handling all workers’ compensation claims for Zurich American on policies written through Arrowhead General Insurance Agency, as well. ACM picked up the claims handling on Zurich policies written through AGIA with inception dates of December 1st 2010 or thereafter.
The president of American Claims Management, since March of 2008, is Scott Marshall. ACM has been around since 1988. Approximately 175 experienced claims professionals work for ACM.
Scott Marshall formerly, from 2002 to 2006, was the President of American Commercial Claims Adjusters (ACCA), which was based in San Francisco. ACCA was a TPA owned by American All Risk Insurance Services (AARIS), a large managing general agency which wrote over six hundred million dollars in workers’ compensation policies at its peak in California. Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies bought ACCA and AARIS in 2006; consequently Scott Marshall became a vice-president and managed 325 staff in five branch offices for Berkshire Hathaway leading up to him leaving and becoming president of ACM.
Sparta Insurance Company was started in March of 2007 as a property casualty underwriting company specializing in providing custom made products. Sparta--besides being a famous city-state in ancient Greece-- is an acronym for Specialty Programs and Risk Transfer Alternatives. Its focus is on the unbundled program market.
