| | Poizner Hosts Insurance Recovery Forum To Assist San Bruno (Glenview Neighborhood) By Press Release - October 29, 2010California Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner hosted a town hall-style Insurance Recovery Forum for explosion and fire survivors on Thursday in San Bruno. Commissioner Poizner was joined by local and state officials, as well as representatives from the insurance industry who answered specific insurance questions for fire victims. Representatives from the Pacific Gas & Electric company were also in attendance to answer questions on recovery.
“Too many homeowners suffered tragic losses as a result of the September explosion and fire in the Glenview neighborhood of San Bruno, and my heart goes out to all impacted families for everything they have had to endure,” said Commissioner Poizner. “Last month's explosion and fire ripped through the community, destroying thirty-five homes, and tragically taking lives. But I want all fire victims to know that they are not alone on the road to recovery. My Department is here to help until every last insurance claim is paid.”
Commissioner Poizner has ordered his Department to continually monitor the claims payment process to make certain that insurers are meeting their obligations to pay all valid claims presented to them.
Commissioner Poizner will continue to monitor the recovery efforts, assist consumers with complaints and make sure that insurance companies are fulfilling their legal obligations to customers.
At Commissioner Poizner’s Insurance Recovery Forum, he was joined by San Bruno Mayor Pro Tem Rico Medina and representatives from the following agencies: the California Department of Insurance, Small Business Administration, California Emergency Management Agency, Contractors State License Board, PG&E and insurance companies with policyholders in the fire-impacted areas.
Since taking office, Commissioner Poizner has hosted Insurance Recovery Forums for fire survivors throughout the state, connecting survivors with the resources they needed to get back on their feet quickly. |
