California Division of Workers' Compensation Posts Adjustments to Official Medical Fee Schedule for Pathology and Clinical Laboratory

Frontline Medical Associates and Munir Uwaydah, M.D. employed an office manager named Kelly Soo Park, 44 years of age, who once worked as a realtor.  Dr. Uwaydah reportedly paid her the generous sum of $10,000.00 per month.  She lived in Camarillo, California, ostentibly quite a distance from any of the Frontline offices, with a race car driver named Ronnie Wayne Case, born April 11, 1976.   Dr. Munir Uwaydah also co-sponsored his dirt car race car.  It is not known what benefit Frontline Medical Associates received from this dirt race car sponsorship.

In 2008, Juliana Redding, born in 1989 in Dallas, Texas, to Patricia Maureen and Gregory John Redding, moved to Santa Monica, California from Tucson, Arizona.  Juliana Redding soon appeared as a model in Maxim’s Magazine and had a small part in the B-movie “Kathy T Gives Good Hoover”.  She lived in a $2000.00 a month ground floor condo near the intersection of Centinela and Santa Monica Boulevard, and went to school part time at Santa Monica College.  She also worked part-time at a local tapas Venice restaurant.  She may or may not have known Munir Marwan Uwaydah.

Sometime prior to 2008, Munir Marwan Uwaydah and Gregory John Redding made ‘business plans’. As a licensed pharmacist in Arizona and California, Greg Redding started a planned business with Munir Uwaydah, the exact nature of which is not known at present.  However, Greg Redding refused to return phone calls for an interview.

Whatever the business plans were, they were not successful. In fact, Pharmacist Redding’s voice mail message sounds out right “angry”.

On March 16, 2008, Maureen Redding called the Santa Monica Police Department, requesting a “welfare check”.  Juliana Redding was found dead with fatal blunt force trauma wounds.  There were reports of bloody footprints on the sidewalk in front of the condo, but the veracity of those reports has not been established.  However, as the windows and front doors bear heavy gauge security screens, whoever murdered Juliana Redding knew her, as there were no signs of forced entry.

The case supposedly went cold for several months.  According to the Santa Monica Police Department though, “thousands of man hours” were spent investigating this heinous crime. Credit was also given to the Torrance Police Department, FBI, and Ventura County Sheriff’s Department with assisting in the investigation.

At first, both Kelly Soo Park and roommate Ronnie Case were arrested. Then Ronnie Case was released without being charged, presumably as he has an alibi. But Kelly Soo Park has been charged with Penal Code Section 187, murder in the first degree.  It subsequently came to light she received hundreds of thousands of dollars from Munir Marwan Uwaydah both before and after the murder.

Between 2008 and 2010, Munir Marwan Uwaydah, M.D. went about his business with one very special exception.  He simply would not allow himself to be deposed for any reason.  If notice of his deposition was received, his personal attorney would call to explain that Dr. Uwaydah could not appear for reasons unexplained. Soon after the arrest of Ronnie Case and Kelly Soo Park though, Munir Marwan Uwaydah, M.D. simply vanished.

In criminal cases, innocent people don’t run.  In fact, this is often cited to juries as consciousness of guilt.  In a strange twist of fate, Kelly Soo Park is being defended by Kim Raukauckus, the wife of Orange County District Attorney, Tony Raukauckus. The Orange County District Attorney website crows how tough Tony Raukauckus has been on workers compensation fraud.  One wonders if Kelly Soo Park will seek a change of venue and if Munir Uwaydah has thrown one last parting curveball.

And according to Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Schwarz who arraigned Kelly Soo Park, “someone” is leaking documents to the press.  For instance, Judge Schwarz froze several bank accounts last week belonging to Munir Marwan Uwaydah, Kelly Soo Park, and her mother, but news of this sealed document reached the news wires almost immediately.

However, given that Munir Uwaydah has been steps ahead of all U.S. law enforcement, there is little likelihood this freeze will impact him for several reasons.  In the Middle East, there is an untraceable method of moving money called “hawala” or “hundi”. Basically this involves paying someone here, and picking up the money from another family member or acquaintance in another country without ever passing thru banking channels.   This untraceable method, based in Islamic law, is favored by terrorists and continues to stump even the CIA.

More importantly, Munir Marwan Uwaydah had two years to plan an exit strategy and he is long gone now beyond the arm of U.S. justice. U.S. law enforcement can spend another “thousand hours” and still end up picking only the low lying fruit. If the Swiss won’t extradite Roman Polanski, you think Hezbollah will give up an Arab doctor?  We want the video rights of the SMPD/FBI attempting to serve and enforce a  United States bank account seizure order in downtown Beirut!

So unless Kelly Soo Park can serve Munir Marwan Uwaydah up on a platter, it appears she alone will take the fall for this capitol crime.

But we’d still like to know the motive. Who else may be involved.  How much are we talking about here?  Why kill someone’s daughter in payback?  For what?  What does the pharmacist know?  What did Munir ask him to do?  What did Munir do? Or maybe the question should be: what didn’t Munir do?
