Two days of severe storms have caused widespread damage and destruction in the state of Oklahoma. At least two deaths have occured, and Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner, Kim Holland, has issued an emergency order to speed up claims.
In a three-page order, Holland, citing state law giving her the authority in the event of a catastrophe, is now able to issue licenses for emergency adjusters for claims involving only the recent tornadoes and storms. The act is expected to accelerate the claims process and help deal with a massive catastrophe resulting in numerous homeowners' and other insurance claims.
Those granted licenses as emergency adjusters hold the designation for no more than 90 days, unless extended an additional 90 days as licenced emergency adjusters by Holland.
Holland also announced that she is working to bring experienced adjusters into Oklahoma from other states to help expedite the claims process.
