| | Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney Brutally Attacked And Carjacked By Assailant In Parking Lot At Anaheim WCAB By Lonce LaMon - January 21, 2010On Tuesday morning, January 19th, at approximately 11:00 am, Louise Armstrong, a Work Comp Defense Attorney employed by State Compensation Insurance Fund at their Santa Ana, California, office was attacked by an assailant and carjacked while she was leaving the Anaheim Board as she loaded her files into her car.
Louise had just made her morning appearance, and in the heavy rain she was in the parking lot getting into her car between the Anaheim WCAB office and the Extended Stay America Hotel. The assailant apparently offered to help her with her files in the downpour, and in doing so attacked her and stole her vehicle. The car was a state owned vehicle.
The attack was so violent that it left blood on surrounding cars and left the attorney with a fractured skull. She is still out from work as of tonight, Thursday, January 21st. The assailant was captured within 12 hours with the stolen state vehicle and files.
No one saw the incident happen. But the surveillance cameras in the area shot some of the incident and helped the police catch the assailant. The Extended Stay America Hotel across the parking lot from the Board is currently used as a temporary residence for parolees and the assailant had just spent his last night at the hotel. Inquiries are being made with the WCAB to see if they knew the hotel was being used in that capacity and to see if someone had an obligation to provide a safety warning to people frequenting the Board.
