| | The Claims Community Mourns The Passing Of Robert Lee Long, Attorney At Law By Lonce LaMon - June 3, 2009A well known workers' compensation defense attorney, Robert Lee Long, who was with Rahn, Holbrook & Murphy in Sacramento, California, died last Friday night, May 29th, of a massive heart attack. He would have been 50-years-old later this month.
Robert formerly but recently practiced work comp defense with the Law Offices of Richard Yrulegui in Fresno for approximately 11 years. His family was well known in the Fresno area for their successful business: Long's Building Supply. Robert had worked in the family business since his youth in Salem, Oregon, and then continued to work in his family's business when most of the family relocated to Fresno. The business then boomed in Fresno and all the family became well known around the area.
In the early 1990s, Robert decided to go to Law School. He attended San Joaquin College of Law in Fresno, and got his Juris Doctor in 1994. On December 12, 1994, he was admitted to the State Bar of California.
Robert joined one law firm for a short while, but soon got in as a partner with Richard Yrulegui's office in Fresno. He then moved to Sacramento to live with his companion, and started a Yrulegui defense firm there. By June 2008, he had moved to the law firm of Rahn, Holbrook & Murphy in Sacramento.
Robert is survived by his mother Doris Long, his brothers Gary Long and Danny Long, and by his recent girlfriend/life partner.
Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home, Fresno, California on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., and at the Shrine of St. Therese, 855 E. Floradora, Fresno from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at The Shrine of St. Therese on Thursday, June 4, at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Clovis Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, and in celebration of Robert's love for children and animals, remembrances may be made to the Central California SPCA, 103 South Hughes Avenue, Fresno, CA 93706, or to Sutter Children's Services, c/o Sutter Medical Center Foundation, 2800 L Street, Sacramento, CA 95816. |
